Crankworx 2010 wrap-up and life goes back to normal

Whistler has enjoyed and said goodbye to the 7th edition of the most progressive mountain bike event in the World; the Kokanee Crankworx. It was quite an eventful week for us all at WOA. In addition to Crankworx the shop has been busy as now all the scaffolding is removed from the outside of our building and you can once again see our operations! Many of our staff competed in events during Crankworx. 4 of our guys did the Canadian Open Enduro and 2 competed in the first ever Richie's Rally. These events feature both climbing and descending and crown the ultimate All-mountain rider! Both were super fun and well organized events with pain and adrenaline getting handed out to the competitors. The Slopestyle was again the main event and Cam Zink was rewarded with a $15,000 check for front flipping and tail-whipping his way to the top of the podium! It was an intense few days.

When it was all over we packed up the trucks and headed to the Chilcotins for our own version of the Chilcotin Dream Ride. 5 of us found ourselves deep in the backcountry after a lovely 30 minute float plane ride where we disembarked and headed out to some of the best singletrack riding in the World! Now we are looking ahead to the infamous Cheakamus Challenge point to point race from Squamish to Whistler on September 18. This will be some of our staff's first time at this event and we are getting prepared and VERY excited.
